It is important to monitor and keep the blood glucose as normal as possible (check if true)

All women with diabetes should be screened for complications before becoming pregnant

The following are absolute contraindications to pregnancy for women with diabetes (check if true)

Women with type 2 diabetes can stay on diet alone if they are controlled. If sub optimal they should be changed to insulin therapy.

Gestational diabetes is fasting blood glucose 5.1 – 6.9 mmol/l; 1 hr post glucose ≥ 10 mmol/l and 2hr post glucose 8.5 – 11.0 mmol/l.
